The laminated surface is not really designed for writing, so ballpoint or gel pens may smear or not take well. A permanent marker such as a Sharpie usually works best, and matte takes ink a little better than glossy because it is less slick. If you want a write-on sticker, such as a name tag, let us know and we can suggest the best setup.
